I love coffee shops. I love the way I feel like a relevant human adult when I am in one, because when there, I am usually without children and with a laptop or, even better, a friend. As I sip a strong blend of freshly ground coffee beans, the murmur of conversations around me provides a comforting backdrop. I would lie to say that am not a casual eavesdropper. Hearing snippets of conversations that lounge in the everyday to hushed tones that carry an urgent undercurrent...the hum of humanity hovering over hot coffee reminds me that for all of the differences that separate us, our need to share in the beauty and harshness of daily living is what pulls us together. That, and a place that serves good coffee or tea.
This new feature of Neighborlies brings the same (albeit virtual) spirit of daily sharing to our monthly magazine. On this page you will find posts from all the regular-and guest!- contributors posted at any hour of the day, any day of the week (for those on Facebook and Twitter, our pages will notify you when we post here). When Jess discovers a new must-have for your make-up drawer, she will post it on here. When Jen wakes up the morning after a dinner that was served to rave-reviews from her minions, she'll be quick to let you in on it. When Heather uncovers a quote she would ALMOST consider having tattooed on her arm, she'll share it here. The light, the heavy, the hysterical, the practical...we will be frequenting this place (most likely in our flannel robes and mugs of lukewarm coffee mugs beside our keypad). If you are on Facebook or Twitter, be sure to follow us for instant updates and for those not on either, simply visit our website and click "Over Coffee" whenever you want a little neighborly conversation.
Warmly,
Jeane`
