Twenty(ish) years ago I had my pearly white Keds tied neatly on my two feet and felt confident that they would walk me into a future that included winning the title of Miss America (yes, there was a significant amount of delusion in my childhood, I mean, look at me) and eventually settling down to live a glittering life of high society on the arm of a Reagan-esque politician, where I would be the hostess of many a grand dinner party. In my
twenties, I applied for everything from Assistant to the First Lady to Kathy Lee Gifford's seat when she left her chair beside Regis' vacant. All my grand scheming and dreaming did not align with God's even better plans, the ones which have that have brought much more happiness than the sparkle and status I once had in mind.
If you were to stop by my old farmhouse on any given morning, you would find me with a coffee cup in hand (or left forgotten in the microwave on it's fourth reheating) and dispensing cheese sticks with the other to five of our six vibrant and spirited children. I am a wife, step-mom, mom, daughter, sister, friend and in all of them, an imperfect woman seeking to live fully where I am, and in the light of God's startling Love. I am immensely excited to see the women and readers of "Neighborlies" come together. There are
good days ahead for those who seek to light up their little corner of the world! Thank you to all who care to jump on this adventure with us.
